VIWMA ANNOUNCES MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

 

(Virgin Islands) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the community of its operational schedule for Monday, May 26, 2025, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

ST. THOMAS BOVONI LANDFILL CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO FIRE

 

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the community that the St. Thomas Bovoni Landfill will be closed today until further notice due to fire.

 

Only garbage waste and commercial waste haulers will be allowed to dump today.  Garbage trucks and roll on/off trucks ONLY. No private haulers until further notice.  

 

Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) are on the scene. We ask the public to be careful traversing the area.

ST. THOMAS BOVONI LANDFILL OPEN ONLY TO COMMERCIAL TRASH HAULERS TODAY

 

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) would like to inform the community that the St. Thomas Bovoni Landfill will only be open today for commercial trash haulers and roll on/off trucks. No Private haulers are allowed today. Bovoni will reopen tomorrow to the public for regular hours from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

LONG BAY PUMP STATION OFFLINE DUE TO MECHANICAL ISSUES

 

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the public that the Long Bay Pump Station is currently offline but undergoing repair. This situation may lead to sewer system issues. VIWMA advises residents to avoid standing water in any affected areas.

 

The VIWMA is diligently working to complete the necessary repairs. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and rely on your cooperation as we resolve this matter.

VIWMA ANNOUNCES PRE-HURRICANE RESIDENTIAL WHITE GOODS AND BULK WASTE CLEAN-UP

 

(St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) will host a Pre-Hurricane Residential White Goods and Bulk Waste Clean-up on St. Thomas on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, and Sunday, June 1st, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

 

Residents are invited to bring bulk waste items such as furniture, mattresses, carpets, grills, and other bulky items, as well as white goods such as stoves, dryers, washing machines, refrigerators, water heaters, and other appliances to the Cancryn and Nazareth Bin Sites and the Mandahl Convenience Center.

 

Commercial Waste, Construction Debris, Electronic Devices, Fats, Green Waste, and Used Motor/Cooking Oil are not permitted at the bin sites; they need to be disposed of at the landfills and transfer station.
