VIMA ANNOUNCES OPERATION SCHEDULE FOR VETERAN'S DAY

 

(US Virgin Islands) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community of hours of operation for solid waste facilities and administrative offices in observance of Veterans Day, November 11, 2020.

All administrative offices will be closed.  Regular business hours will resume on November 12, 2020.

Residents on St. Croix who receive house to house trash pickup in the Sion Hill, Tan Tan Terrace, Sion Farm, Estate Rattan South, Constitution Hill and Anna’s Hope areas provided by Bates Trucking, are notified your Wednesday November 11 pick up has been rescheduled to November 12.

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community of an overflow at the Nana pump station and mechanical failure at the Bournefiled pump station, which occurred at approximately 1:00 pm, Friday, November 06, 2020. The Bournefield pump station has since been taken offline for repairs.

VIWMA staff and contractors will be working diligently into the weekend to bring both facilities back online. The Authority will continue to keep the community abreast of repair progress.  

Traffic will not be impacted, as berms will be placed in the area to reduce any environmental impacts. Residents with impacted immune systems or respiratory conditions are asked to avoid the area until repairs are complete.

The VIWMA thanks the community for their cooperation and patience.

(St. Croix, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that a force main break occurred at the Lagoon Street pump station in the vicinity of the St. Patrick School at approximately 1:30 pm, Friday, November 06, 2020. The pump station has been taken offline while preparations to execute repairs commence.

VIWMA staff and contractors will commence repairs on Saturday, November 07, 2020. The Authority will continue to keep the community abreast of repair progress.

(St. Thomas, USVI) - The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) advises the community that VIWMA employees and contractors are presently making repairs to a force main break that occurred at the Cancryn pump station at approximately 7:15 am, Friday, October 23, 2020. The pump station has been taken offline while repairs are being completed. 

Motorists traveling west to east in the vicinity of Gottlieb Gas Station and Banco Popular are asked to traverse the area with caution or consider the use of alternate routes as sewage overflow will occur and traffic may be reduced to one lane. Residents are asked to avoid standing water in the area.


The VIWMA staff and contractors continue to work diligently to complete the repairs and thank the community for their cooperation and patience.
